We’re excited to welcome Skye Saker as a guest contributor to our blog. As a plant-forward, seasonal chef and nutritional therapist, Skye brings a creative approach to nourishing food, and we love how she’s used our Organic Cacao Flakes as the perfect finishing touch in this indulgent yet wholesome treat.
Filled Dates with Cacao Flakes
Filled dates make a quick, highly nutritious sweet snack, especially when topped with cacao flakes, for an extra boost of antioxidants, flavonoids, protein, magnesium, and iron.
To make these, choose sticky, toffee-like Medjoul dates and carefully slice each one open to remove the stone.
Fill the centre with a nut butter of your choice—crunchy peanut butter or almond butter works beautifully—using about half a teaspoon per date.
For the topping, you can simply melt some dark chocolate, or take it up a notch by making a silky ganache with olive oil and maple syrup. To do this, suspend a bowl over a barely simmering pan of water and melt the chocolate gently. Add a drizzle of olive oil and a dash of maple syrup, stirring until it thickens into a glossy, sticky mixture. Work quickly, as it will set fast, and spoon it over the filled dates.
Finish with a sprinkling of hemp seeds and Organic Cacao Flakes for a satisfying, nutrient-rich treat—perfect for these darkening autumn evenings.
